Roy's continue charm with new locations
San Diego was visited by a star chef this week, Roy Yamaguchi, who flew over from his home in Hawaii to supervise final touches for the opening of his new Roy's restaurant location next week at the San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina, near the Convention Center. He has come to San Diego often during the past seven years to monitor operations at his Roy's location in Costa Verde at UTC. This trip, however, is special.Read Full Review
Gaslamp Strip Club: It's not what you think
"No, Mom! It's not what you think." The Gaslamp Strip Club is not full of undressed women, although it does display some artwork by Alberto Vargas, whose pinup girl "Vargas Girls" drawings appeared in Playboy magazine. The name of the restaurant originates from its signature "strip steak," one of seven steak choices on its menu, all of which are Midwestern, corn-fed angus beef, aged 21 days and then marinated to maximize flavor. That's why the rest of the restaurant's name is "A Steak Place". Read Full Review
Café Sevilla -- A Night In Sevilla
Have you ever visited Sevilla? The capital of Spain’s Andalusia province, its climate and look is very similar to that of San Diego. The city is full of palm trees and red tile roofed stucco homes. The weather is temperate all year long. The city is noted for its history, ancient buildings, food and music. I found Sevillanos, as residents are called, to be very welcoming and hospitable. Currant American Brasserie --- Electrifying Currant
"Current" refers to "rate of flow", often used with respect to electricity.  Change an "e" to an "a" and you have a new word that refers to a small seedless raisin, often grown in California.

But "currant" also is the name of an electrifying new downtown restaurant, located in the chic and convenient Sophia Hotel , within walking distance to state and federal courts and to many office buildings. When the hotel was redone, a new restaurant concept was needed to complement the sophistication of the setting. And, a great chef was attracted to it.

Indigo Grill – Restaurant With A Point Of Difference
Indigo Grill, located in the heart of  “Little Italy”, is a unique restaurant, creating a fusion of tastes that range from the tip of Alaska to the tip of Mexico. “Every restaurant must have its point of difference,” Chef Scott stated. “Why should customers go out to dine if they can eat the same at home? And, why should they dine at this particular restaurant?  We try to stand out!”

Molly's Restaurant: Where to find the perfect pair
"Red or white?" That is the question many diners are posed when choosing wines for dinner. The rules have changed, though. Now red is often imbibed with fish dishes and white with meats.

But the staff at Molly's Restaurant & Wine Bar, located at the harbor Marriott, has put a whole new sophisticated spin on wine selections and pairings. Under the direction of Lisa Redwine, the restaurant's manager and hotel sommelier, a wine list has been compiled that offers a marvelous breadth of choices... Read Full Review
Osetra Watergrill
The name on the marquee was changed but the angels are still there – “wine angels”, that is. Osetra The Fishhouse, which has served diners for years at the corner of E St and Fifth Avenue, has changed its name and operating focus. It is now known as Osetra Watergrill.

Sally’s Seafood On The Water
Sally’s Seafood On The Water is one of several restaurants in Doug Manchester’s landmark twin tower Grand Hyatt Resort but it is the jewel in the crown. Lael’s Restaurant and Redfield’s Deli are both very popular eateries. Top of the Hyatt offers stunning panoramic views from the 40th floor, a very romantic setting. There are bars and lounges scattered throughout the property. But for luxurious fine dining, Sally’s is the perfect destination.

McCormick & Schmick --- It’s A Hit
Daily Savings Time is forcing us to turn the clock ahead (or is it back?), Spring is around the corner and the sounds of a flat “thock” of a bat hitting a baseball in parks all around town remind us that the baseball season is about to begin. Calendars are being filled in with evenings that are being saved for watching our local Padres move ahead to another winning season.
